LANCASTER – Preparations are underway for the eleventh annual Porcupine Freedom Festival, aka “PorcFest XI”, to be held June 22 – 29, 2014 at Roger’s Campground in Lancaster, NH. Originally started as a way to encourage Free State Project participants to visit New Hampshire to see the state, meet other FSP participants, and hopefully be inspired to move, this annual event has grown into one of the largest annual freedom festivals in the U.S. Last year’s attendance was ~1700, and according to this year’s organizers, registrations are on track to set a new record.
The theme of this year’s event is DIY, or Do It Yourself. The festival will feature a number of classes and workshops where attendees can learn and practice a wide range of skills, including making your own makeup, tie dying, shooting machine guns, several dancing styles, cheesemaking, and beekeeping.
Keynote speakers will include Joel Salatin, a nationally known third-generation farmer, public speaker, and author of such books as Everything I Want to Do Is Illegal and Folks, This Ain’t Normal. Patrick Byrne, CEO of Overstock.com, will speak on his business’ decision to begin accepting payment in the rising cryptocurrency Bitcoin. The event will feature numerous other speakers and panels as well; the full schedule is available online.
In addition to classes and speakers, PorcFest will offer a number of activities for children. It will also have adult parties, dances, and hikes. For more information on tickets and lodging arrangements, visit porcfest.com
